Children & Education
More than 72 million children in the world today are not able to go to school, and 350 million children receive only a very poor quality education. Promises Kept is committed to helping children in need, especially orphans and privileged children receive an education. Helping children get an education gives them a chance to build a better future for themselves, for their community and for their children. Supporting long-term educational projects offers a way to break the cycle of poverty and opens up a new world of possibilities.
With help from private donors and the ability to keep costs down, Promises Kept provides underprivileged children with affordable education, which gives them the opportunity to be successfully placed in high schools of their choice. In 2010, Promises Kept began sending orphans and underprivileged children in Lagos to primary and secondary school.
Now, the Foundation has begun working with partners to provide an enabling environment for school children in Benin City, Edo State. In collaboration with other organisations and the state government, we are ensuring that the schools are staffed with enough teachers, equipped with computers and other learning tools, and we are carrying out renovation and security upgrades to ensure that the school provides a safe and secure learning space.
